Senior Pastor

Bishop Michael W. Golphin Sr. was among the first converts under the late Reverend Henry J. Miles in 1988 at Sixth Mt. Zion Baptist Church in East Liberty.  From that time on Rev. Miles was a driving force in his life.  Bishop Golphin became active in Evangelism Ministry and in 1994 received certification to train leaders for evangelism through Evangelism Explosion International.  In that same year Bishop Golphin acknowledged his call to the ministry and was issued a license to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ on July 3, 1994.

Bishop Golphin was called to pastor Deliverance Baptist Church in July of 1996.   He was ordained on October 13, 1996 by his pastor and mentor, Reverend Dr. John T. Leftwich and was installed on December 29, 1996.

A native of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, he is a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School and a Journeyman Carpenter by trade.  He currently serves as a board member of the Boys’ & Girls’ Clubs of America (Wilkinsburg chapter), Wilkinsburg Community Ministry, and Building United of Southwestern Pennsylvania. He formerly served as the President of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Pittsburgh and Vicinity.  Bishop Golphin has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Community Ministry from Geneva College, and he is currently pursuing a Master of Divinity degree from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary.

Since becoming Pastor, he has started a non-profit company, Deliverance Incorporated, as well as a for-profit company, Deliverance Development.  Through Bishop Golphin’s leadership, the church acquired approximately 10 pieces of property throughout the Wilkinsburg community.

On July 13, 2008, he was formally elevated to the office of Bishop by Apostle Terrance Bivins of Worship in Harvest International Fellowship, Lorain, OH. He’s married to the love of his life, Lady LaTrice Golphin. Together they have 5 children.
Bishop Golphin is truly a living testimony of the life-changing power of God, and the example that he lives for all to see which can be summed up in the words of David as recorded in II Samuel Chapter 6…“I dance before the Lord, who chose me … appointed me as leader of this people of the Lord.  So I am willing to act like a fool in order to show my joy in the Lord.  Yes, and I am willing to look even more foolish than this…”
